    Default Cheese!!!!!!

I was in the gym last week watching the telly news when I saw this story
    http://business.scoop.co.nz/2009/09/...k-await-costs/

...and nearly did a little jig of delight. We've got so fed up of the overpriced yellow rubber that passes for cheese in the supermarkets here. We ended up chucking a home made pizza in the bin this week cause the 'mozzarella' was just awful (and we never waste food). And whilst we have found a couple of places to buy (expensive) french cheese, I long for a lovely chunk of blue vinney or crumbly welsh goat.

So does anyone fancy coming on a cheesemaking course with me, or have a goat/cow they'd like to rent out?

    Roll on proper cheese!

good news indeed...there are some good cheeses around, but you do have to pay for them... a bit like getting a good sausage.

On exploring for quality food here I have found http://www.cheesemongers.co.nz/

I had cheese from this monger and it was great, as good as any cheese monger I have been to to in Europe and all the cheese I had was all Kiwi and I was very pleasantly surprised and I will become a weekly visitor.

I have being buying Mainland vintage for kids lunches etc and its not to bad.

With good food comes good prices! General you pay for what you get. No highly processed food in my house!

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! Must tell hubby, who's always wanted to make cheese (and whom I have converted to the yumminess of stinky and mouldy cheese..)

A quick google shows Parmigiano Reggiano, so yes it is available in NZ.

No idea how available it is though in local stores?

Easily available in most supermarkets. Expensive though (as it is everywhere).
