unlock iphone

i have just found the easiest unlock for iphone. i updated to new 3.1.2 which removed my previous cydia carrier settings thereby unlocking it.
you dont even need to put the phone into recovery mode!

When did they start locking the Iphone in NZ? I just bought my 32G there last Oct and I am using it without in problems here in Kuwait on the local company Wataniya. You must have a US Iphone?

This may be a silly question, but if i buy an iPhone here in Canada, can I unlock it and then hook up with a provider in NZ and use it there?

All I can know is that NZ handsets - whilst egregiously expensive - are unlocked from the box.

My hubby unlocked his US iPhone with a program called Black Rain, which was super easy, and it works just fine on Telecom and I would assume it would work on Vodafone as well. GG, PM if you need more info. Canuck, I would assume this would work for you as well coming from Canada.

http://blog.iphone-dev.org/ is a good site to follow on the unlocking of the iPhone and it's new software versions.

PwnageTool and QuickPwn are dead simple tools to use.

For people who struggle with computers, i'd recommend getting rid of the locked iPhone and getting an unlocked one (from NZ, Italy, Belgium, Australia or any other country where locked phones aren't legal). I bought mine from Italy, a friend got his from the Apple Store in Sydney.

Perhaps one day the iPhone will be freely available in the free world.
