Never underestimate a Range Rover. Seriously, they are the bees' knees mechanically, for pulling and off-roading, that a lot of other brands try looking like without doing the job. But the newer ones have more concessions to cosmetics than the rather earlier ones did.

When working they are about the most capable off roader there is, a fact many people overlook due to 99% of them spending 99% of the time on tarmac. The only problem is that that ability relies on a lot of complicated transmission and suspension gubbins, which isn't user servicable out in the wild. Not especially eco friendly either, the engines are old fashioned and whilst very powerful, then you can see the trees wilting as you drive past and the fuel consumption makes my Saab look economical, and it only manages 22.7mpg!
Oh, and as a bonus feature on the range rover they added an innovatiuve feature not found on US cars / trucks. It's a system by which the vehicle is able to change direction, referred to as cornering, without needing to give 30 the car seconds notice, make sure all the passengers have taken seasickness medication and with no screeching, lurching, rolling or wobbling.

There are some good, and much more economical, diesel engined versions.

Oh, and there's a version that comes with a pair of custom guns in the boot, and a minibar that is restocked free of charge for the first year.

You obviously went to a different Rover test day from the one we did! (The cars we got to test-drive were a far cry from the elderly one at home, but didn't quite reach the point you describe.
)

Was on Top Gear last season. Comes with an upgraded interior as well, but the mechanicals are pretty much left as is.

No offense to the Brits over the RR!!
They are just a status symbol city car in the US--they have no reputation for ruggedness in Texas!
Also, in Texas, ALL trucks are either Ford or Chevy (Holden). Toyotas??: We don't call those "trucks"
