Default How to build a house if we have a section?

    Hello everyone!

We are new in Auckland (and NZ as well...).
We started seeing here and there places, under the umbrella of many suggestions and reports (such as books, local people that live here at least 20 years etc.).

We want to ask, if anyone has done it before:
If we buy a section of a land, say 600m2. Then we need the building company to build our home. Till now it's all OK, but now we need to know, whether the building company needs to get the whole certifictions from the council and/or other bodies to build a house on the section, to excavate for sewerage etc. or this is our responsibility to make it before they are building the house?

If so, should anyone have an advise for a good building company (reputation reputation...) that might build our good house (nor leaky one :-) )??

    Thanks for all in advance,
    Riv

    Hello and welcome.

If you use Search on the blue bar above, you will find there are several threads where people talk about their experiences of having their own homes built. That should give you some interesting reading to start with.

This link may also be of help. http://www.consumerbuild.org.nz/publish/

    Welcome along,

We are down in Canterbury so cant quote for Auckland but we used a private builder and there was a certain amount of mixing and matching but mostly he sorted out the council stuff.
If we'd used a building company we'd of expected them to have done it all with our consultation as to decision making.

Check out our housebuilding thread and good luck , we enjoyed it immensly and if we'd not our perfect plot we'd do it again
