We are in the process of filling out the eoi form, I was wondering if anyone knows if i have to take my exam again to work as a dental nurse and if my dental qualification is recognised in nz?
Thanks Lynsey

Hi
Did you ever find out an answer to this question? I just posted a similar question, then found yours. I was just looking at the ISSL and can't find dental nurse on there.
Good luck

Hi
I've tried to check on the dental council of New Zealand website but couldn't find a definent answer
In the past I know that dental nurses/assistants were on the short term skilled lists for many areas
I have found that an e-mail to the dental council is responded to very quickly
Also if you are looking for an employer it is worth while visiting the lumino.nz site
I am taking a position up with them in 09/10 and they have been very helpful

Hi not been on for ages but I can help you ..
no need to take further exams - the NZ system (exam) is pitiful - there is no post certification quals,no cpd , no registration ... niet nada niente !
That said demand is high as dental assisting is more a "job" than a career here .
My advice - join a good practice that is forward thinking . I had to kiss a few frogs lol !
I hope this helps
