    Default Auckland (tied) 4th Best City in World to Live

    Mercer's Annual Quality of Living survey came out today and listed Auckland as being tied for 4th place in best cities to live in. It was 1st in the Asian Pacific sub-category.

    1,2, and 3 were Vienna, Zurich, and Geneva, respectively.

    Wellington was 12th overall, and 5th in the Eco category (Auckland was 13th in Eco-land).

    Amusing. If Auckland is just "survivable", Sydney (10th place) must not even be that.

    I suppose they lost points for poisonous snakes, poisonous spiders, and sharks.

    Don't start that again...Last time I mentioned the Australian wildlife I got berated about being alarmist and ...'you know 20 billion Australians die on the roads and only one person every millenium gets bitten by a snake'...(maybe I got the numbers wrong)

    ...but back to the OP - If most liveable means dull....then I'll take dull anytime. the way I look at it is I'll travel to go and see and do exciting things but I'd like a nice quiet and safe life day to day!

    I concur with the article, Auckland is a very poor imitation of Sydney. It is survivable but heck there are a lot more pleasant places.

    I had a chat with someone in Auckland last night who said it was a better place to live/work than Welly, so this seems to concur with that opinion! All I need now is for the Auckland job to actually be offered to me! Then I have a real choice on my hands!
