We went to Farmers this weekend and the had the dehumidifier with the built-in heater on sale for 50% off again, so we scooped it up. I haven't unpacked it yet (probably should) but I'm quite curious to see how well it works. We also picked up an oil radiant heater with a built-in ceramic heater from the Warehouse for the lounge area and that works VERY well! It got the room quite toasty within an hour or so. Now to find out how this will affect our power bill.

Remember that all electric radiant heaters (oil, ceramic, brand new, 20 years old etc) are 100% efficient and consume exactly the same amount of electricity for a given heat output. So don't get too stressed about which one to get.

We used to have part of our mortgage attached to FlyBuys (if you're interested in doing this, be aware that BNZ is the only bank that offers FlyBuys) and bought a $400 DeLonghi dehumidifier from Noel Leeming with our FlyBuys. We only run it if we're using the tumble dryer as we don't have a vent out the side of the house, just close to a window so we get a fair amount of wet air back into the house at the start of the drying cycle. It works a treat!
