Talking Does it get cold in NZ?

I'm looking out at gorgeous blue skies yet I'm pleased I have my heating!

There is often the comment that it doesn't get cold in NZ and while it clearly doesn't get as cold as other places do you think it gets cold enough for heating, (if you're lucky enough to have some!), or for putting on a cardi and coat when you go outside?

I'm doing this survey in July as it's easy to forget what winter is like when we're in the middle of a great NZ summer!

    Cheers

    Tia

I've opted for 'Yes' for Auckland.

I've had my heating on and I will be wearing my big coat and gloves to watch the kids play early morning football!

    Cheers

Have a look a this http://www.odt.co.nz/your-town/arrow...rature-121degc ! Thus heating inside and coat outside are quite desirable aren't they?

We live in Taupo - yes, we managed to pick the coldest place on the North Island!!!
9, 10 and 11 degrees at the moment, heating on from late afternoon usually, but a couple of days from morning. If the sun is out and blue skies, this warms the rooms.
We do have as much insulation as possible. We have an older concrete walled house. We have insulation under the house, and in the roof space upstairs, but nowhere near as insulated as in the UK!!!

After six days in Auckland I would say yes, it does get cold, but nothing at all like the East Coast of the US where I spent the last 7 years... lol. And it's way more beautiful too
