    Default unlimited broadband help

we're with telecom on their total home package which gives unlimited usage.
they have written to us today to say they are removing the plan and it will now cost $20 a month more!

anyone know of any other uncapped plan that operates in the kapiti area?
we dont stream or download peer to peer but want something we dont have to worry about.

I don't think that we have any uncapped plan rather than "Big Time" from telecom.

Have you checked about xnet broadband plans, they do have two plans that may suit you.

    Cheers.

    We're with Xnet. http://www.xnet.co.nz/

We pay per GB, but it works out cheaper for us than Vodafone did. (We're on the plan that has free internet between 2am and 8am).

I like Xnet's pay-per-Gig pricing model. They also do not round up your data to the next Gig. If you use 5.244 Gig you pay for exactly that, and not for 6 Gig.

There is also a cap pricing plan, where you specify the cap you wish to pay for per month. If you decide you only want to pay $89.34 per month and not a cent more, you'll have broadband speeds up till that amount spent ($1 per Gig + subscription fees depending on your choice of plan), and then you'll be throttled down to "dial-up speeds" after that. If you use less than that, then you only pay for what you use (shocker, I know!).

Finally, they've got a nifty little program you can download onto you computer or install as a Firefox browser extension which will query their systems and tell you how much data you've used and what your next bill will cost till date.

And if you decide to ditch the $40/mth Telecon line rental and go with Xnet's VoIP + naked DSL phone service, then be prepare for outrages phone charges such as 5c/min to the UK landline!
