Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone can answer the question of when hiring season begins and ends for secondary teachers in NZ. Thanks!
Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone can answer the question of when hiring season begins and ends for secondary teachers in NZ. Thanks!
Hi,
I kept an eye on the same thing last year, by checking out vacancies on the EdGazette site:
http://www.edgazette.govt.nz/
I found that most vacancies were advertised from Sept-Nov for the new academic year starting Feb.
Any secondary teachers actually in NZ got any more info for us secondary lot please?!
I'm primary but doubt it varies. As said above, Sept to Nov is when vacancies for Term 1 i.e. Feb are advertised.
Key is to keep you eye out, I am going for an interview tomorrow for a postion that starts this term.

What subject are you looking for? Any areas?
I work at a Primary school and asked the Head Master yesterday. He said generally he'd be looking from around the end of Term 3 (Sept) to the end of the school year (Dec).
Good luck with your job search!

Think Primary is the same as Secondary
I started looking beginning of Oct for job for following Feb - jobs were being advertised then
Think Teachers need give only 8 weeks notice and can leave during the term (well, thats what has happened in my school) so it pays to be on the look out
Edgazette is the place to look
If you are here - go visit and get your face /name known
Good Luck
Saw a job yesterday adveritsing for Term 1, which is early but some school are starting to think about it.
