Default What can I do with a Degree in French?

My OH has a Degree in French & a PGCE. She currently works as Secondary School Teacher, more than 10 yrs work experience behind. We are moving to NZ by beginning of next year.

She is wondering, apart from teaching jobs, what opportunities are there taking into account her education and work experience?

She speaks both English & French.

I have a degree in Spanish from the UK, several years experience teaching (but English as a foreign language).

I'm just about to start a post-grad course in library and information studies (1 year)[distance learning from Robert Gordon University Aberdeen] as I'm hoping that a University library would be somewhere I can put the language ability and experience with different cultures to use.

I know there are quite a few school librarian jobs available.

I've also qualified to be an IELTS examiner - does the Alliance Francaise have an equivalent your wife could qualify for?

If anyone's got any better suggestions I'd be interested too....

    Default Trainer?

Perhaps some kind of training role might be an interesting career path.

I have often found my meagre teaching experience, and my language skills (degree in French) have stood me in good stead when called on to take training sessions.

Some large companies, or specialist consultancies would be worth talking to.

Not sure if there are qualifications she could obtain, but worth a thought.

The world of technical writing is also not too far removed for a good linguist.

Translation is an option, but does require further qualifications and training to be able to compete with the professionals.
