Default Can I be self employed with a permanent residency visa

    Hi all,

I'm about to get my Permanent Residency visa through, and i might have the option of becoming self employed contractor rather than being employed full time.

Does anyone know it this is a problem?

    Cheers

If a job offer was part of your application there may well be a 18A clause

which means you have to stay in that job for 3 months from taking it up before you can leave it and get the 18A clause removed

If you are in certain trades like plumber, electrician, gas fitter and a few others, you will need to pass the NZ exams before you can be self employed.

This takes a minimum of 2 years.

from the visa point of view provided you have no conditions attached such as a job offer, you can do what you like
