Default 3 years and one day

Aye we slipped past the 3 year mark yesterday and skied at Mount Hutt in the morning then played golf at Rangiora in the afternoon, something we've been meaning to do for a long time, do both on the same day
Incidentally for all other ski bunnies there are many International ski teams booked in to practice at Mount Hutt this season, so if you fancy seeing how fast they go get up there early, boy do they fly................

So as most of you know we're well settled and have in the last year realised many lifelong dreams.

Finished building our own house to our design and our specs. As mentioned in various building threads we spent our money on insulation and we're reaping the benefits of this now as I estimate our total heating bill this winter will be $170. Yes it's wood and we're lucky that it's our main source of heating, rural over 2ha's but we really only have the wood burner going for 3 to 4 hours a night and never over night.

The freezer is groaning with our homekill roast pork and crackling for tea and the next lot are happily munching in the paddock outside

Sky our border collie is just delightful and gives us joy every day with her endless energy and she enjoys marshalling the chickens, which are confined to the orchard as the rest of the garden takes shape.

We had Clare's family over for Christmas last year for 9 weeks, wee bit too long and our Son has now gone back to the UK to be with his girlfriend. So we're now empty nesters and for the most part enjoying it, God bless Skype .

The last 3 years have been a blast and we've made some great friends along the way and enjoy helping and meeting newbies to Canterbury

So what for the future, well in the short term it's to get the garden in shape and work on our skiing technique and golf handicaps

    and live for the moment

Woohoo! Sounds fab - and my mouth's watering regards that pork.

Glad you had fun at Mt Hutt! BiL and his daughter were 2 of those stuck up there due to winds a couple of weeks ago, apparently it is already turning from "cramped and chilly and boring" to "J's Big Adventure"

Doing the garden of one of my customers today and she was caught up there with her three children . They normally go to Wanaka and Tekapo and had decided on a spur of the moment, oops.

Congratulations on your three years!! I remember when I first joined up (abeit briefly) you were new then, I can' believe three years would have flown so fast! Time does fly when you are having fun!

Can't wait to get back, hubby did a bit of skiing at Mt Hutt before we left, and will be doing so again next year, he is a mad skier!

Good luck with your plans and future..
