    We felt this in New Plymouth. Our bed was shaking, not too much but enough to wake me, and a small cupboard in the hallway was knocking against the plug sockets, thats what woke the wife.

    Best wishes to everyone in the Christchurch region. Just seen the news on TV and there's a lot of damage to buildings.

    Shop awnings are down in Temuka, nothing like in Christchurch though.

    hope all in ChCh are ok.

    I didn't feel a think up here in Blenheim. believe aftershocks still occuring now according to sil. in-laws have minor damage and burst water cylinders, power & phones are out.

    So sorry for the damage in Christchurch, and for the fear the quake evoked. Thinking of all living through it. Cannot imagine an earthquake of this magnitude. Our coast just received the a brush of Hurricane Earl...worried about the folks in New England.
