Where to live in Auckland?

Hi all
We are new to this forum and are currently living in the UK. We plan on moving to Auckland next year.


We are a family with two children (currently 2 and 3 years old). We would like to settle in an area that we will stay in until the children have left home!.


The areas we are looking at are Remuera etc (to be zoned for the grammar schools).


North shore (to be zoned for Westlake boys and girls) or alternatively Dairy Flat.


Education is paramount to us but we also want to live in a friendly area with a sense of community.


My questions to anyone who can help are:


are the westlake schools as good as the grammar schools? Any further thoughts on family friendly areas?
