    Default Benign Gilbert's Syndrome MA?

    Hi all!

This is the first time I'm posting in this thread and I do hope someone can answer this. I'm not sure if this has been posted before as I've tried reading back the posts and did not find any yet.

After my medical exam, I had issues with my liver function test which the Panel Doctor promptly referred to a gastroenterologist. The findings were mild hyperbilirubinemia = Gilbert's Syndrome of a benign nature. I think the specialist indicated no significant clinical consequences, so am I good?

Has anyone had this syndrome? Was the case referred to an MA?

    Thanks!

    Jaime

    Hello and welcome.

I don't remember hearing this mentioned before on the threads. Maybe someone will report something now you've asked.

    Thanks!

I guess I'm just worrying too much. The Panel Doctor ticked No Abnormal findings with the specialist report attached. I looked it up over the net and it seemed like a minor, non-issue. I'm crossing my fingers!!

    Hi Jaime,

I am "suffering" from Gilbert's Syndrome as well.
I had a letter from my GP stating that the elevated liver values are caused by Gilbert's Syndrome (verified by a genetic test) and that I am otherwise healthy. The panel doctor wrote that everything looked alright and that no further test were required in his opinion.
Well: my case wasn't referred to the MA. And I got my Silver Fern visum with no delay.

Bdw: Hadn't it been for the medical, I still wouldn't know I am suffering from Gilbert's Syndrome ;-)

    That's good to hear Moritz!

Yeah, same case with me. I didn't even know what Gilbert's syndrome was before this Medical. I hope I don't get to jump through the hoops as well. Of all the requirements, I thought medicals was something I'd ace. I will be lodging my application soon. I'll keep you guys updated. Thanks again.

Interesting- my two teenage daughters were just diagnosed with Gilbert's last month. This did not turn up on their original physicals when we moved to NZ (thankfully). We've been told its a totally benign condition so I would hope that there are no issues with the MA. It will be interesting to see what happens w/your medical. Good luck.

    Hi Jaime
The doc who did my medical (about 1 year ago in London) just wrote 'Gilbert's Syndrome' on my blood results, no referral to MA, no further testing, no questions from NZ immigration, no problems! So I hope it will be the same for you!

    Default Sorted, cleared and approved!

Just an update on this Gilbert's syndrome medicals...

I filed my WTR application 2 weeks ago together with a medical that said I had benign Gilbert's syndrome and a specialist medical report (gastro) saying that it's a condition that won't require any medication whatsoever. The specialist report was of course on top of the normal medical exam (I was asked to have reticulocyte(spell?) count = additional blood test) and was attached as a supporting document to the abnormal liver function test.

So there, I think if anyone has this condition, just get a specialist report and you're good to go, no MA referrals. I got an email yesterday saying my work visa application is approved! can I use this now?

    Cheers,
    Jaime

This is so great to see this thread, my OH has just had this come up on his medical. Not sure if need to get a further specialist report, was just going to attach info on Gilberts syndrome with the ITA. Would you suggest going to get further bloods from GP???
