I've a 1978 Triumph Spitfire
Are there any restrictions on bringing vintage cars into NZ?
Does it need to be converted to unleaded?
I've had this for over 20 years now and would hate to part with it

Don't think so, rust is the main problem.
Would more likely be called "classic"- a very loose definition, the vintage period ended 1931.
These ppl will know the pit falls better: http://www.vcc.org.nz/
Take a look here: http://www.nzta.govt.nz/vehicle/importing/index.html
There are rules on front impact assessments but you maybe exempt with classic cars
Lots of the rules don't apply to cars over 20 years old (classics).
No frontal impact and emissions rules but a high level brake light and seat belts are required.
