still didn't get it if eating out and second hand cars are cheaper than in UK?
also if nobody's bother to keep up with Jones's what is the motivation to work?

To earn the means to pay for what YOU think are nice things to own and to do, for yourself and your family, regardless of showing off to fit what other people boast about, or what mindless newspapers say you ought to want.if nobody's bother to keep up with Jones's what is the motivation to work?
Rather than reply to (some of the) information in this thread that is way over 12 months old, you would probably be better using this newer thread on a similar subject with more up-to-date thoughts and experiences.

Is that really a serious question?
The motivation to work, OK.
How about buying or renting a house, feeding and clothing your family etc.
Look, if you really need to play games like "Keeping up with the Jones's" to motivate your self then maybe you need to look into emigrating somewhere else rather than NZ.
Most Kiwis that I know (indigenous and immigrant) would actually feel pleased for you if you bought a new flashy car or a 60 inch plasma screen and not jealous.
