    Question IKEA / trademe / handicrafts ?

Hi! I am new to the forum.

I am relocating to Wellington in December 2010
    and have some newbie questions.

-Cheap modern furniture and household items ?
What is Wellington's equivalent to IKEA ?
The Warehouse ? Any other good competitors ?

-Most popular FREE trading website for buying and selling stuff like furniture?
I've seen trademe, but I generally don't have time for following auctions.
Prefer internet posting with photos, telephone, face to face, check out item, cash purchase.
What is Wellington's most popular equivalent to Craigslist/Gumtree ?

-My wife sells South American handicrafts, such as Alpaca wool clothing.
Are there regular handicraft type markets in Wellington ? Where ?
frankkittsmarket ? any others of interest ?

    Thanks,
    Martin.

I hope these may be of more help than what others have posted so far

    WWW.frankkittsmarket.co.nz or

    http://www.harboursidemarket.co.nz/

Probably The Warehouse or Big Save furniture, Thorndon Quay has a load of furniture shops but not been in them myself so not sure what they are like. There's also a lot of one off shops but you don't find them untill you drive by, Petone has some great shops & where ever you drive you will see local shops with some nice bits in

Don't touch this company with a barge pole! I ordered some bedroom furniture in July as I wanted it to match with the existing ones, and thought that the price wasn't too bad -everything even remotely similar was at least twice the price in NZ. As I was ordering anyway, I purchased two smaller items too through them. They promised a delivery for the following month, i.e. August.

I quite literally got the last piece yesterday, after numerous emails, phone calls etc. First they only delivered 2 out of 3 boxes needed for one of the items and tried to blame the courier company for it. They deliberately lied to me on several occasions of having the products "in Auckland" and that they would be delivered to me "next week". It ALWAYS turned out to be untrue, and this happened to me at least 4 times with each of the 3 items. After having claimed on several occasions that one of the items I had ordered "was in Auckland and would be shipped tomorrow", they then contacted me and asked ME to specify which parts/boxes they need to get for it...

I know several other people who've had similar problems with them, and I know that one person has already reported them to Fair Go. Their customer service was the worst I've ever encountered anywhere, and when I phoned them and said that I really want some answers and pointed out that they've repeatedly lied to me, I was accused of being rude and unreasonable "as we're trying to do the best we can". If that's their best, I don't want to know what their worst is. The whole company is a joke, except for their customer service, which is a nightmare. I will never, ever have anything to do with them again.
