    Default Pet insurance

Has anyone got recent experience of good/bad deals and service, please? (The animal in question will be based in Auckland, if that makes any difference.)

At this stage we have decided against pet insurance as we have two young cats, we may review this as they get older and are more likely to have issues.

The companies that I have found that do pet insurance are:
    www.pet-n-sur.com
    www.petprotect.co.nz

I have no idea if any of the other big insurance houses (eg State, AMI etc) cover pets.

    Hope this helps,
    Anneliese

I have a bunch of companies (from google) but I was hoping for some recommendations and experience.

Good companies to seek out, bad and ugly companies to avoid?

    Any ideas of cost?

Yes, exactly. My d-i-l is shopping around, and I'm hoping somebody will have some direct knowledge to share.

we use pet'n'sur, they've been great when we have had to make claims. Don't ask me how much, I can't remember, but not "expensive".
We only picked them because our dogs have come from the SPCA (in Auckland) and they provide 2 weeks free cover through pet'n'sur with the dog you "adopt".

Our mutt is insured with Pet Plan - http://www.petplan.net.nz/.

Only had to make one claim (when we took her to the vet after she got sick swallowing a small tennis ball) and it was paid out nice and quickly.
