BMI +40.
Very Low platelets (below 40) [Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura]
Is it worth bothering with the platelets?
I can always diet!
Cheers

As already addressed in this thread - http://www.enz.org/forum/showthread.php?t=32699 - there are some general rules.
I advised in the medical that my leukocyte count is too high but stable on solid level for years: No issues, no waiver necessary!
OH got BMI down from 39.7 to below 35 in about 6 months, I'm not sure about Low platelets though.
Thanks for that
Hi Hepples, are you in the processing with your medicals, or just researching and already aware of your condition? Hopefully you are doing well with ITP.
My boyfriend has just been diagnosed with ITP, and was not aware of it until undergoing the medical for NZ. His first medical had elevated results including low platelets and was referred on to the medical assessors. They ordered repeat tests, new tests, and an ultrasound. Most of his elevated results dropped significantly into normal ranges and his ultrasound was fine, though his platelets were even lower. Then they requested a hematologist/specialist report... it took over a month with the specialist as my boyfriend had to undergo a lot of testing for a diagnosis (bone marrow, ct scan, more tests, medications etc.) just last week, we sent off the final report along with the tests to show he's fine with no underlying cause, just has ITP.
We are sitting here wondering, it's going on 4 months for this process, sitting and waiting. We worry too if this will cause a problem...
Take care of yourself, and hopefully we all will find out soon enough.
Hello, welcome, and all the best.
Just wanted to follow-up, to the ITP concern, we received the great news we have spent 4 months waiting on, and our visas were approved!
TheHepples, don't be discouraged, we had a blood specialist test and evaluate my boyfriend, and once they deemed it ITP, we were approved.
