However, that doesn't quite fit with the problems described above.

Our internet is connected through telephone line but we dont have fixed line activated on our names (probably some sort of arrangement between Telecom & Vodafone), a person from Chorus came and got our line activated before internet was connected.

Just a small point since when can the Yorkshire Ambassador come from Manchester? I know that there is only one 'Rose' county and that's the White one but surely a true Yorkshireman would NEVER live over the great divide or if they did (dragged kicking and screaming no doubt) they wouldn't admit it

I've been working the local embasies for years now. Don't worry, I'm 100% white rose, Manchester was just the last embassy, and there's not enough space to fit the whole journey in there.

I would object to the stereotyping of the regionally derived humour, although I'll leave that for another thread

I’m happy to get ultimate naked for $65. Any takers?

Out here in the wop wops we're on the "Port waiting " list, no available ports in local Telecom/Chorus cabinet.

We pay $3.95 per month just to keep our Telstra account live for the day when one becomes available.

In the meantime, well for the last 16 months we've been using Scorch a wireless system and for that we pay $102 per month for 10 doubry whatsits and speeds of 1.04mbs download and 0.25mbs upload

B&C yes on the one hand that’s a lot of money, but on the other hand being connected to the world is invaluable. Not many years ago you would have had no connectivity. For Mrs RR it’s a deal breaker. No internet no move.

Did it last night and it was 8.something download and a lot slower upload! Might have even been less than 1 but can't remember (I've slept since then)!

That's normal, as most people download a lot more than they upload.
