We had interview yesterday and I wanted to share the experience .

Our CO is from Beijing branch . Interview invitation was sent exactly 12 months after application lodgement.

Our CO called on time and started with few identification questions. She stated that interview is the final assessment stage and she reviewed and checked all submitted documents.

All the questions to me (as main applicant) refered to employment perspectives:

What research in your professional area you did so far ?
What did you find out ?
What are the average salaries in your industry?
What opportunities exist in your industry?
How do you plan to look for job ?
Have you applied for any jobs ?
What answers you received to your applications?
What is your current position and management level?
Will you be ready to consider lower management level ?

In addition I was asked few usual questions:
    Why New Zealand ?
Why you leave your country /
Do you have any experience in immigration and resettling ?

It took about one hour . She asks , you answer loudly and slowly, she types . Afterward she repeats what she typed , you confirm or fix her and so on.

Later she asked to talk to my wife .
Few questions about employment perspectives and job market in her area and then a lot of questions about housing and education :

Where do you plan to settle?
We plan in Auckland, so CO asked to specify ,In which area /district?
Have you checked rent rates ?
Have you checked the prices of utilitites and goods ?
Are you familiar with NZ education system ?
Have you checked schools in the area of potential settlement ?

It took another half an hour.
We felt very exhausted by the end of interview but happy that it's behind us !

Next day we got the minutes of the interview -to amend and confirm .

Tip to all the preparing for the interview memebers of the forum :

As you enter your online immigration service page on http://www.immigration.govt.nz/
There is set of pdf files (on your left) about Live in New Zealand .
Print it and read before the interview !

Now we are waiting for results ..............I can feel electricity in the air , and you ?

Any news? The 4th is ages ago!

We had our interview on Monday of this week, with the usual indication that a result would be forthcoming inside two weeks. I really hope it doesn't take that long...

For those who are interested in such things, the questions I was asked were pretty much all covered by lists posted elsewhere on here. I didn't make lots of notes, but read through the questions and sample answers several times before the interview. Apparently some of the COs are now wise to the formulaic approach some applicants are taking to the interview.

    Q. Where will we settle?
    A. Depends on where I can find work (followed by a brief description by me of the merits of working in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch as I work in IT).

    Q. Would I be prepared to undergo extra training?
    A. Of course. Several job adverts I've seen have listed qualifications or skills I don't have - I'd be keen to fill these gaps in my abilities.

    And so on...

I'll confess, I'm very nervous. It feels like it has been a nightmare ordeal to get this far... Something I'll expand on another time.

Good day time to all forum members!

Three weeks passed since our phone interview and my patience finished .....So I sent a polite letter asking about the status of our application and on the following morning gor the letter from our CO saying :
"We have decided to invite you to apply for work to residence visa. The invitation letter will be sent to you by email shortly."

On one hand it's another sad story from Beijing branch, on the other hand ----IT'S SEEMS LIKE WE DID IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!
