Can anyone comment on this area / town?

Coromandel Peninsula is very beautiful with rolling green hills and lovely coastline. Was only there a few days but did enjoy it; was more on the rural side I thought (which was attractive to me- I am definitely the Southern Man type)

New Zealands No1 marijuana growing region as well.
Loads of old hippies still hanging around in Coromandel township, making a killing from tourism.
Great place to kick back and blow a few scoobies if your that way inclined :booby

Hi Moorf. We spent a couple of weeks up on the Coro in March. It is without doubt a lovely place, with some of the best beaches in NZ. It is however VERY rural. The roads are fun though, very twisty and hilly. I think you may find Tairua a bit hard going on a day to day basis as we were told there are only about 1500 permanent residents. We are in fact looking to settle very near by. PM me if you want any more on the area as I have contacts on the ground up there.

Timbo - after living in a village of just 12 houses for 6 yrs in Perthshire Scotland, we are quite prepared, indeed excited, about finding another small rural community - as long as there is scope to make a trip to a larger place once in a while we are fine - of course, I doubt Coro is going to be a viable choice if Woz has to get an IT job... !!! But, the business we found was in the IT industry (kind of!) so it might scrape through!!

    I'll PM you!

    Cheers
    Moorf

PS Hmmm twisty and hilly roads - I won't see Woz for dust - literally!! He'll be searching for Mini Coopers in Coro now!

Seems a bit more expensive up there!

Still, nice locations and weather too .... definitely worth a visit.

    Thx Timbo!
