Terrible news - must be so hard after all they've been through. Hopes and prayers with everybody.
It seems lots of chaos and confusion in the city .We all be praying for your safety.Hope there won't be any casualities.
GeoNet is currently showing quakes of: 6.3 @ 12:51pm; 5.7@1:04pm; 4.5 @ 1:21pm; 4.4 @ 1:46pm; 3.4 @ 2:37pm; 4 @ 2:39pm; 5.5 @ 2.50pm; and they're all at depths of 5-8km in and around Chch and Lyttelton. This is bad, very bad.
Hope you are all OK in Christchurch. One of my colleagues even felt it here in Wellington city centre.
Kia Kaha Cantabrians. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Checking in!
I was at work, on the 5th floor of a building where apparently none of the computers fell over on 4th Sept. Well they definitely fell over this time, and the cabinets, etc. Emergency escape stairwells got big cracks in them. I do not see us being allowed back inside for quite some time. I think I might lose my temp job over this too.. and at the very least I only get paid for the hours I'm at work. Ho hum. Plenty of people with MUCH MUCH worse to worry about - it's scary watching the tv..
Thankfully hubby only lost power at his work (out near Lincoln) and DD was safe at the childminders. Our nice newly-purchased house is, thank goodness, absolutely fine. not even the 1.8m high bookcase fell over.
Sheena and everyone else in Chch - hope you're all well and if anyone's in need of a place to stay, our house has power, water etc thank goodness and even a load of food. Comment here if you need a bunk and haven't got my number Or, since the phones are pretty shoddy right now, PM and I'll give you my address.
Aftershocks continue, as you would expect. Yay.
Good to hear you are safe Sophie. All the best.
(Couldn't rep you for that post, got to spread it around a bit more, but consider yourself repped.)
Stay safe Sophie! GeoNet is reporting another 5 @ 4.04pm
