Apple, pear and even boysenberry cider are available in supermarkets here.

It is available but I haven't had a good one unfortunately. They all seem to be the mass produced Strongbow/Magners style ciders rather than the proper West Country "bought from the front of a farm" style ciders.

But it could just be that I haven't been to the right places and you can get a proper scrumpy somewhere!

That must be a BE "vs." NZE thing.

What would it be with Boysenberry though?

I think that it is more of a branding thing as I saw pear "cider" in the UK when I was over there at Christmas. Cider had a bit of a boom a few years ago and it looks like perry makers are piggybacking on that boom by rebranding as pear cider.

    Well, beggars can't be choosers....

I will never forget going for an Italian meal in Lincoln last year and being devastated that they didn't sell cider...

"But we sell lager"...I was told...

..."Is that like cider then?" I asked...facetiously

..."No but I can put some lime in it".....

...."I'll have a fresh orange please" says me....
