Thumbs up Silver Fern visa to Permanent Residence

    Hi all,

I have just joined the forum and want to share my experience with you.

To start with, I am a Computer Science Engineer from India and am working as an IT Business Analyst in Auckland.

I am one of the lucky ones to get the Silver Fern visa in 2010 and arrived in Wellington on September 7 last year.

Actually, I had been working for the past 4 years as an SAP consultant in India and was told about this particular visa by my best friend who works here in Wellington.

I applied for the visa and after some immigration formalities like NZQA assessment, medicals, character checks etc., was given the visa to fly to NZ and search for a job.

After I arrived in Wellington, I started looking for IT jobs and being out of India for the first time, the new place was treating me well.

However, I got a bit depressed after a long queue of failures in securing a job in NZ. I sometimes thought why I came here after leaving such a good job and work profile in India. But my friend who supported me financially and morally, gave me a lot of support on this very front and encouraged me not to lose hope.

So after 5 months of adverse circumstances, 350+ failures and rejections in various job applications (frankly speaking, I had stopped counting after this number) in NZ, I got an interview call for a role in Auckland. I traveled to there and attended the interview.

Finally after a week, I was told that I had been selected for that particular role. I literally started crying out of excitement.

Then I moved to Auckland the next week and joined the new office. Its been 3 weeks now since I have joined here and I am really loving this opportunity and the city too.

I have recently submitted the EOI (with 205 points in total) for a permanent residency in NZ and it has been selected last week.

I am now waiting for the invitation to apply for residence.

I look forward to contribute in this forum and use the available resources too.

    thanks for the support people

i just had a few queries.

i have submitted my EOI and it has been selected on 23 feb 2011.

i have a job offer and have claimed 205 points in total.

i was wondering how much time will the immigration people take to send me an ITA?

i am living in Auckland Central so the branch would be the Queen St one.

also, i had mentioned email as a preferred way of communication.

will i receive the ITA via email or via physical mail?

any inputs will be highly helpful. thanks.

the status of my EOI has changed to Decision Successful.

didn't expect it to be that fast, it had been selected on 23 feb.

    a pleasant surprise it is.
