Washington Accord Engineering Degree/Returned to Pool

Our EOI has been returned to the pool as we claimed the 10 points for qualification in area of skills shortage and they say that it isn't covered by the Washington Accord. But it is listed on the Washington Accord website. I am very very confused. Is this likely to be an admin error?

I have directed the person who wrote the letter to the correct place on the site - could I be missing something? If not, does anyone have any idea how long it may take to rectify?

I'm really annoyed, we seem to have been waiting forever for the ITA, and now this! We were selected on the 23rd February and we only got this notification yesterday.

Would you like to share what the reference is, so that people who've gone this way before you can have a look?

I'm not sure what you mean by reference, they've just said that his degree isn't on the Washington Accord website. If you mean the course reference it's 3656 on the WA website.

Which method of notification did you use? Email is often the best; else of course a phone call. You could also use the general online contact form.

Are you aware of any recent revisions to the list. Did the immigration officer quote their source. (Yes, I know a negative proof is difficult!)

You could perhaps get in contact with IPENZ our professional organisation here; or with yours in case you are member of one. And you could also get in contact with the facility that awarded your degree.

Thank you for your help - I tried one more time to call them today and finally got through. The guy had trouble finding it so I sent him (at his suggestion) a screenshot of the page from the Washington Accord website, so I'm hoping that will clear things up.

In fairness the WA website isn't easy to find things on - if you don't have the name of the university 100% etc. it returns nothing.

He was very easy to talk to, and if he can clear this up they will issue out ITA - so here's hoping! I will post the outcome and hopefully it might be helpful if this happens to someone in the future.

Just being curious: What sector of engineering are you in?

I have to hold my hands up - this has been all my fault. I filled in the EOI and copied all my husband's info from his CV. So when it said Bachelor of Science and Master of Science I put BSc and MSc on the form.

I NOW am very clear on the difference between a BEng (which he has and is accredited) and a BSc, which apparently is very slightly lower. So we should get the points for a level 7 back again now. His MSc isn't counted but that doesn't really matter.

I don't know if they will now send on the ITA or put us back in the pool and reselect, and I suppose the worst that can happen is that they make us reapply.

I know there has been a few negative comments made about immigration, but the guy I have been dealing with has been really nice.

My husband is a civil engineer, specialising in highways. He currently works for the government overseeing national roads in 7 counties here.

ITA issued today. I am SO happy. Immigration were also very easy to deal with, so I'm all round very impressed with them.
