Default Leave in 20 hours and I'm still packing!!!

Got to head to airport tomorrow afternoon. I'm still packing stuff.

Been running like mad for days and my trip is simple. Our house (and my family) are still here, so I'm just trying to bring the bare minimum without forgetting anything important.

I think I have the papers down. Still have to pick out clothes and books. I really have not been procrastinating. Just been swamped.

Worst part is leaving my family behind for the next 3-4 months. I'm going to miss them like mad.

And to top it off, (and after 3 years unemployment) I was contacted by someone about a job in the US we had discussed about a year ago, before they broke contact. Now that I am leaving, they want to talk. I'll try to turn that into a fall back position.

Still it is exciting. Hopefully I can make this work and bring them down when school is over.

    I'll keep y'all posted.

Thanks newarrival and JandM. I need the good wishes. Gosh, you leave the board for a couple of months and everyone forgets you.

Anyway, I arrive in Auckland Tuesday at 8am, and hit the ground running.

I originally wrote, 'Hope the journey goes well and you hit the ground running,' then thought it was maybe a bit insensitive addressed to someone about to fly in!

Hey, best of luck and safe journey (which I guess has already begun by now). I'm in a similar situation with respect to the family -- they were supposed to join me a week after I flew in, but now that's stretched out due to unfinished business back in the US.

PM me once you land if you need help getting your bearings.
