Hi everyone,
I'm a Londoner with a Kiwi fiancée, and we're planning on moving out to NZ this year -ideally by November/December. (Kind of a scarily short timescale, but we've been talking about it for years...)
From the outside my situation seems relatively straight-forward, as we've been together for nearly seven years and will be applying for a partnership visa...but there are a few things that are confusing us:
1) In the Family: Partner Category section (p12) of the INZ1002 ("Residence Guide") leaflet, it doesn't explicitly mention that applicants (in that category) have to meet the minimum income requirements, but on p13 (under "Family: Parent Category") it says that "Your sponsor and/or their partner must meet a minimum income requirement to demonstrate that they are able to financially support you" - So, does this apply to Partner Category applications too?
2) Why am I convinced that if the minimum income figure does apply (currently around NZ$30000), that we actually need twice that? She's a home-bound Kiwi, after all so I don't think that she'd need to meet the requirement? (Yes, the answer to this question could be: "You're crazy/ill-informed/stupid/all of the above")
3) The INZ1002 guide also mentions that a permanent resident visa may be awarded if all the other requirements are fulfilled. Does anyone have any direct experience of this?
Thanks in advance, all!
