    Default ideas for easter weekend

    so on the thursday, im flying nelson - welly coming back from a spot of work and arrive at tea time. it looks like our kids may be elsewhere and its our anniversary on the friday (good friday). any ideas of where to go and what to do for 24 hours for a special V day

    spend a nice night in a hotel in Welly or masterton with spa treatments, meal etc?

    The Hotel Museum is very nice if you're in Welly. Get an apartment, then a nice room service meal and chill out without the rug rats.

    And contrary to other comments, we found plenty to do as visitors in Wellington for a weekend, including Te Papa.

    Welly is a bit samey for me working there. The hotels in masterton etc have a min of 4 nights over easter

    Fair point.

    Canoe the Whanganui river - 3 days. Definataly not samey.

    funnily enough, number one son will be doing that exact thing which gives us scope to have a bit of anniversary lovin..

    LOL. Tell him to take vats of DEET for the sand flys. Also, hope that the in depth safety breifing and training he gets is more than ours. "Don't fall out, see you ion 3 days".

    Was one of the most memorable things I've done. Magical, and despite not being into all that mumbo jumbo yoghurt eating clap trap then I would say 'spiritual' too.
