Default flying to nz via brisbane, anything required??

Hi, just booked flights to nz with emirates. We leave glasgow and head to dubai then onto brisbane then auckland. Do we require any sort of australian travel visa??? we are not staying in brisbane, only connecting for a flight to auckland, thanks again, claire

If your transit stop is less than 8 hours, you stay in the transit lounge for it, and you have a UK passport, then you shouldn't need a visa as far as I'm aware. You may wish to confirm about the transit lounge with your airline though. Here's some official info on transit visas: http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/transit/no-visa.htm

If you buy any liquids in duty free in Glasgow or Dubai make sure you check them in at the gate in Dubai otherwise you wil have to throw them away at Brisbane

Transit visa "in caps" (if you need visa to travel to Australia) even for 1 minute transit through any city of Australia.

Be ready for another security check in Brisbane. We found them very brusque to the point of rudeness - worse than LA though it was hustle rather than a long wait - very stressful at that stage of a very long journey!!
There was a shortage of trays for the scanner because no-one was collecting them and they were piling up at other end. One of OH's shoes failed to come through and his key ring dropped through the rollers onto floor (could easily have been lost) OH was checked 3 times as there was no gadget available to check artificial hip.
Maybe we just hit a bad day?

Transiting through Brissie is a bit like that in my experience. We've done it with less than an hour and yet you have to go through the whole nonsense of pouring your water away, getting out your laptop, putting liquids in plastic bags, etc. And they're rude. Makes touching down in happy little Auckland airport, where there's often a cup of tea waiting and always smiley folk, a real pleasure.
