Unhappy Lever function Disorder - Referred to MA

    Hi

We were going on Student Spouse visa. My wife and daughter has got the visa but in my case there was some problem with lever function disorder. My case was referred to MA on 24th June adn the VO said that it will take 4-6 weeks.. any idea about this?? My wife has already moved as she had to start the course and I am waiting for my visa with my daughter here in India. My VO is very patient as he always responds quick.. but I am too worried if all would be well? How much time does it take?? is there any provision that we can ask for faster processing as in my case my daughter is here and the mother had to move...

    Regards
    Yaigesh

    Hello and welcome.

Any time someone's medical gets referred to the MA, it takes AT LEAST three weeks for whatever reply the MA sends, and it can be longer, depending on how busy they are.

The MAs are an independent department, not under the control of the Case Officers. MAs have the right to require you to provide more information about your health - to obtain a letter from your regular doctor about diagnosis, treatment and prognosis, and/or to get an appointment with a specialist for his/her opinion - and they can do this several times until they feel they have enough information to make a decision. Each time you send answers to them, the reply is going to take at least three weeks to come back.

The CO can't influence this process in any way. Also, neither you, nor anyone on your behalf, can communicate with the MA directly, so all you can do to speed things up is provide anything they ask of you as fully and quickly as possible.

In your case, with the liver function disorder, were you aware that you had a problem with your liver? If you were, and if your doctor has been treating you, then you should ask him for a report on your case, emphasizing any and all good aspects, for instance (if it happens to be true) that the condition of your liver has no effect on day-to-day living, and that it has been improving under such-and-such treatment so he expects you to be fully cured in x months' time. If you did not know there was anything wrong with your liver, you should go to your doctor straight away, have all the test he thinks are necessary, and start treatment as soon as possible. That way, if the MA replies, NOT wanting to pass your medical and wanting to know more about your case, you will already have some information to hand and will have saved at least some time.

To answer your last question specifically, no, there isn't any way this can be speeded up.

We have been in the same situation last year. All you need is patience and wait till MA clears or make some decision. Sometimes MA may ask you for more information. As JandM said, You may consult a specialist (gasto-enterologist in your case) and get yourself ready with all information he may ask , which would save lots of time. PM me if you need some more info. Good luck.

No, there's no way to lean on an MA.

The only thing you could do to satisfy your understandable urge to do something is to ask your CO (not fiercely) if there is any news, and if s/he has any idea of how long MA referrals are taking at the moment. But be prepared for the fact that s/he won't be able to tell you anything much.
