there is skype through the internet but we have found the best solution is the prepaid phone cards. it involves a lot of numbers to dial but its a really good rate. The best card rate varies but last time Pete and I costed it out it was the rate saver card. The exact no. of minutes you get varies with whether you are calling a mobile or a landline and the time of day you are using it. Apart from the good call rate the other advantage of these is that its paid in advance so doesn't come up on the phone bill.

Many thanks we use Skype but have had a lot of problems since we have been in Nz with I do not know if it is the bad line connection.

I will check out these cards. Where can I get one?

    Default yapjack using net2phone cards

Does Yapjack using net2phone card work in NZ? I am using it a lot now here in Saudi Arabia to call my kins in the Philippines via landline or mobile phone. It is cheap and works like an ordinary phone. It would be big help in cutting phone bills.

    Appreciate your reply.

If you are with Telecom here in NZ, there is a 0161 number that lets you talk at a fraction of the cost.

A normal 10 minute call to Malaysia would cost $7 and using 0161 cost me $0.55!!! The line is just as clear. Not sure what the charges to other parts of the world!

Heres the 0161 link, we missed this when Shagen posted it, but were watching Fair Go the other night and they mentioned it, so hubby used it to phone UK last night, and instead of the $5+ it cost last week, I had a look at our online account this morning, and the same length of call was $1.50, not bad eh?

    Talking

    Thanks Sal

I'm using a Kiwi call card at the mo and that is very cheap.
Have programmed all those long numbers in the phone and I'm through in seconds.

    Have a good weekend
