Default On Our Way To Tauranga

We booked our removal company today (Pickfords) who will clear our house on 19th January 2012 for shipping on 20th. We hope to fly on 31st January, with a view to being in Tauranga early February after spending a few days in Auckland. Its been a long road but everything is happening really quickly now and the move will be on us before we know it. We are all really looking forward to starting our new life in the bay and keen to meet up with anyone who has been through the same process recently. We are a family of 4 mum and dad mid forties with two kids 12 (boy) and 14 (girl) in tow.

    Yay! Happy travels!

Just make sure the container ship has a good map reader on board...

    Default On Our Way

Thanks Sophie, that would be just our luck Had several companies quote us on the move and Its probably been the only time I would say that to many options are a bad thing - taken us an age to make a decision on who to go with, a real headache. Big sigh of relief today when we actually signed on the dotted line with one of them.

Fantastic choice!!! Tauranga is superb. We stayed in Auckland for a year when we first arrived but have now set base in Tauranga since the beginning of this year.
We are a family of 4 too with a 9 and 11 year old. Some of us here at the Bay are actually meeting up for a picnic this Sat but no worries, we can always have another one in February when you arrive.
All the best for the move and the stress only gets worse.

    Cheers,
    Amy

Pickfords delivered our container on Friday and everything was exactly how we left it! Good luck with the move.

Thanks for the reassurance dwgknz. You read so many different experiences with shipping companies from people. some good, some bad and the altogether terrible!! It puts your head in a spin.
Hopefully we will experience the same level of service from Pickfords that you have just received. Where did you ship from/to ?

We moved from London. They were very accommodating and easy to work with, first they delayed our shipment on our request as we weren't going to have reached NZ when it arrived and didn't want any associated customs headaches. This had quite a big impact as they couldn't pack directly into the container at London and had to store it. Then the container didn't make the boat as planned but fortunately for us we had decided to settle in Wellington instead of Auckland so they rerouted the container and it arrived the week we got our new house so no additional storage charges!
