job hunting in NZ on visitor visa - purpose of visit?

I have scheduled a few face to face interviews in NZ that I am coming to attend on the visitor visa.

On the arrival card, they are asking "what is your MAIN reason for coming to New Zealand?" ...

Which option would you recommend to choose? ... there are:

- business

- holiday/vacation

- other

Business! At least that's what I ticked back then.

Thanks Ralf! ... Did the immigration ask you at the border what kind of business? ... I have actually heard that by ticking business there might be a lot of questions from immigration to be answered, etc. ...

I think it would be good if you can just say about job search and say you will apply for Work visa once everything falls in place.


When I applied for visitor visa and said "job search", the immigration lady asked me to show what kind of research I had done, did have some bits and pieces of papers which I produced on the spot.
