Looking for a 2-3 bedroom furnished rental in Dunedin, walking distance to Columba College (339 Highgate). Budget~$300NZ/wk. Criteria priority:

1a. Sun/Warm in winter
1b. Walking distance to Columba
2.Walking distance to shops
3. Family, not student housing

1a. Sun should generally not be an issue there given the topography.

1b. Wakari is a bit ambitious again given the topography; you are crossing Kaikorai valley.

2. The only 'real' shops there are in the vicinity of the roundabouts in Highgate between City Rd and Stuart St

3. None of these suburbs is a designated student area

Thanks for the input ralf-nz. We are very aware of the rental property websites and I am scouring them constantly. Hoping to find a local Dunedin forum reader--like yourself--who knows of an upcoming opportunity that may not be on the web yet.
