    Default Job hunting Time frame

    Hi All,

I was wondering if I was planning to be in NZ by the end of the year at what time should i start looking for a job?

how long would a company looking to employer hold a job for someone who needs to apply for a job?

Just looking for a rough idea?

    Thanks

    Tim

November - February is generally dead period when it comes to job hunting. Sometimes employers wait for 1 to 3 months depending on their requirement and job profile. Which field are you working in Tim?

In that case, avoid November - Feb as IT projects mostly (based on my experience) come to a halt during Christmas/New Year to reduce any system downtime/breakdown, 4 weeks seems to be standard for employers but as I said if your experience is in niche area then employers might want to wait for longer. Also note the financial year of companies in which you are interested- similar to companies in UK, here we have revised budget to reinstate or start new projects. Hope that helps.
