Default How to get Job offer

I recently submitted ITA w/o job offer with 125 pts. So far I know, job offer can speed up the progress. Would you please suggest me how can I get a job offer as Software Engineer? I hardly find jobs at newkiwis in my field. Is there any other ways where I can search?

    Thanks a lot.

Check trademe and seek for a start, also register directly at employers website and drop CV at recruitment agencies. Take some time out to research on NZ format of CVs and cover letters. You can search for some threads which have already discussed about job hunting. Getting a job offer is catch 22 situation for most of us i.e. you need visa to secure a job and job to apply for visa, however sometimes people are lucky if they are have specialized skill sets or domain knowledge.

You are right. I applied for few jobs at trademe and seek but they ask when it is possible for me to attend interviews at my own cost in NZ. Most of the cases, live+work permit is the precondition to apply for a job. If I am not allowed to apply for a job before getting work permit, then how others submit their EOI/ITA with job offer?

It is very difficult under these circumstances, I presume people who get job offers without any visa on hand have really good experience and employers are totally unable to choose candidates from local talent pool.

You are allowed to APPLY, but in most cases, as you have found out, employers won't consider appointing you without seeing you. Many people on the forum get round this by going to NZ on a recce trip, having contacted agents and employers to say they'll be available to meet between such and such dates.

You could suggest an interview via Skype perhaps.

Well, It really depend on your skill and every case is different. In my case, I fall into very specialist area of skills and there are hand full of people in NZ. On the other hand, it's also very hard for me to find jobs because it's very nich market for me comparing to Europe and USA. I went NZ in OCT and had great interviews with very good feedbacks but no job offer was made due to budget delays and Rugby world cup fever. I got back to UK with many contacts and I kept all leads alive. But I end up getting job here in London by visiting NZ Expo. It was totally strange and delay of few weeks from those ones lost good candidate and another good company grabbed me. I am very please with my choice and they are very supportive and understanding.
Anyway, it's worth visiting your potential employer or future home, if you can spare some money otherwise you need to have very specialist skills get job offer while sitting at home, which is bit rare.

    Good luck

As far as I know, yes you can visit NZ for interviews (on a tourist visa) but you will need appropriate work visa for taking up employment.

Just curious, are you already in NZ?
