If there is anyone thinking 'my qualifications I've got in another country don't count for anything here' please think again and visit CAPL for a chat.

When we began our journey of migration I had an Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, from Wiltshire College.

Because of the format for education here being of a more 'academic' nature, ie completing papers, my Adv Dip was assessed by NZQA as a level 5 qualification.

Upon contacting CAPL NZ I completed an assessment of my course, covering what we'd learned, not how we learned and my experience in working as a counsellor since qualifying.

Based on this CAPL assessed me as having completed a level 6

They offered me a short course to attain this level 6 status within NZ to gain NZQA recognition, although when we talked further I opted to go for the level 7 degree.

So two weeks ago, I delivered a 4 hour presentation in support of the Bachelors of Social Services, Specialising in Counselling and I got it

CAPL is a process you can complete at home, in your own time and takes your experience of working in your field into account.
