No way. Unless you have agreed to that originally I would not pay that, that's their problem. We had hassle with our car with Transworld here trying to get extra money for the car which we knew was too much, so we complained to the company in the UK and they got in touch with Transworld. Try contacting your UK company, that's who the original contract was with. It's a real hassle but if you push they may back down.
A general thought - I think part of the key to avoiding too many MAF charges is good packing in the first place. If you put all the things which you know may attract the attention of MAF together (ie pack garden stuff in one box) there are fewer boxes to open. And always make sure you have a very good look at the packing list as they go along.
Good luck to you all with these container woes, it is a stressful time as everyone just seems to have their hands out demanding money but it is worth it and eventually everything will be unpacked.
