Quite agree - lots of people have brought tools of various sorts. Make sure there's no dirt of the sort that can harbour life, then you shouldn't have any problems at all.

I brought all tools as well, as clean as I could get them, not a problem.

We brought all our tools including garden hoes, rakes, spades etc, just make sure they are clean and certainly no rust on them. Amazing what a coat of Hammerite will do to make them look good. We had no issues with MAF at all.

Our stuff is just in the process of being packed by anglo pacific and our tools are all clean and smelling of that lovely WD40/Jays Fluid - Hopefully no problems at the other end!!

On a similar topic but not quite the same - what sort of tool vendors are there in NZ? In the UK DIY chains abound, where do kiwis get their power tools?

Bunnings, Hammer Hardware, Mitre10 ( which looks remarkably like B&Q ) and various builders suppliers

This is a country which has adverts on TV suggesting you buy your mum a tool belt for Mother's Day (a pink one, naturally)

On the subject of adverts this recent one says it all:

Or there is this one, a classic from Mitre 10 offering insight into the New Zealand attitudes to DIY, appropriate weekend activities and Australia.

Or this one. Hilarious. Good for practising your Kiwi accent, preferably in the privacy of your own home.

Rust does not matter at all, it is inorganic and of no danger. It is plant and animal matter that must be cleaned off : mud, seeds, eggs, cobwebs, plants, insects.
