    Default stereo problems

I have Marantz stereo that I have brought over about 12 years old
    Cannot get it to work
Keeps turning on/off as if it's resetting
Changed speaker wires but no good
No difference on multiboard or changing plugs
    Any ideas
    Never had a problem before

Might be something to do with the Integrated Circuit (IC), most of the stereos of that decade used to have one main processor kind of IC and I remember my electrician friend used to just change it whenever he received complaints.

12 years wouldn't be classed as old. Marantz made top quality stuff throughout the 80s. It wasn't until the 90s came about where all stereo brands (with the exception of ultra high-end equipment) started using IC (micro-chip integrated circuits). The result was once these IC chips would fail, it would render the whole unit useless as most of these IC chips are proprietary (after 5 years or so, the chips are no longer available).

The term "discrete componetry" is a thing of the past as more and more ICs are being used (thus lowering the cost of production). When I say discrete, we mean the use of only electronic components 'resistors, capacitors, & transistors'.
