Default What to do after arrival?

    Hi everyone,
First of all, I would like to thank everyone who helped me in answering my previous posts, this forum was very helpful and I found many answers to my inquiries from other people posts.

I am moving to Auckland on the 23rd of June, to be honest I am a little bit nervous about finding accommodation and a job since I will be moving with my family. Anyway, I wanted to check if anybody who already made the move if they can tell me about what should I do when I arrive? I know I have to do the following,

    1- IRD number
    2- Activate bank account
    3- driving license application

of course I will be looking for a more permanent accommodation and a job in the meanwhile. What else should I do when I first arrive?

Register with a doctor would be a good one to add to your list also.

How do you usually deal with drs over there, since where I live we go to any dr. and he or she refers us to a specialist. If we register with a dr. do we have to go through him every time? also my wife only feels comfortable with a female dr, can she register with a seperate dr or is it a file for the whole family?

You ask for registration individually not as bunch of people. You don't need to register at all and can change doctors. However the registration generally reduces the fees you have to pay.

Champagne - when you're having some, celebrating your arrival, don't spill it over your new phone.
