Where in Auckland?

Hi Guys, am exploring regions in Auckland and unable to find a region serving as IT hub.... are there any such places which serve as IT hub, north, south, east?? ... am interested to know cause am in IT, and want to study more on these regions before migrating in.

Lot of companies (small & medium) have their IT infrastructure together with back office operations so the hub is quite spread out. Central Auckland has good concentration of IT work. North,south,east and west is just about 20 minutes drive (traffic permitting)

Just to clarify, Its not like India where you have a huge suburb/area dedicated to IT comapnies & related companies.

Most of the IT related work is based out of City Area in Auckland , with few companies having offices in other areas.

When are you planning to visit for your job hunt? From November end to February 1st week is usually dull period and recruitment is kept on hold.

As the other posters have mentioned, there is no real "central" IT Hub in Auckland. You dont mention which aspect of IT you are looking for, but if you are concentrating on looking at service suppliers, one place to consider is round the Viaduct harbour area. Close by there are: Telecom (of which Gen-i is their Services arm), Microsoft, Vodafone, HP, Microsoft, IBM and Alcatel. For Industry roles, there is no real concentration, but remember than off peak, the city can take as little as 45 mins to travel from North Shore right through to the bottom of Manukau in the south meaning most areas are coverable at relative ease.

Just curious, how is the traffic in Auckland especially in the morning when people are going for work and at the evening ?
My guess.... no traffic jam ??? Since NZ only have 4 million people ...

Of course there are morning and evening rush hours, and these cause traffic to back up somewhat, particularly when you consider that Auckland is built at a pinch point on North Island, so the road system has to take account of limited crossing places over bodies of water. However, while locals, and outsiders who are used to rural surroundings, will moan about Auckland traffic, it is not difficult when compared with e.g. London.

Don't forget that the 4 million (and a few more now) population are not evenly spread across NZ. One and a half million of those people live in Auckland.
