Claiming LTSSL points for MCA

In EOI, can one claim for bonus points in Long Term Skill Shortage List if qualification is MCA (level 9) with B.Sc Electronics, though the list asks for Level 7 degree?

Since nobody in the business is steppping in...

I've seen other people say that if it says 'Level 7' in the LTSSL, it has to be Level 7, not a higher level. However, despite having the Level 9 qualification, maybe the bachelor's degree considered on its own would enable you to meet the criteria?

Make sure your MCA degree is considered as LEVEL 9, I have seen people getting assessed as LEVEL 8 for MCA, if you have not done your IQA, please get a clear idea for the points to be claimed in EOI.

I got my NZQA, IQA today... strange
got only 8 points for my masters of computer applications - whereas they clearly mention masters get 9, and a postgraduate diploma get 8 ....
mine was a Masters degree ... damn!!

now dont know how to claim points on eoi ... seems even if i claim on LTSSL, they might down grade or cut points some where - which according to me should be awarded ....

so much in their hands ...

ok ... so many questions popping in my mind right now ...
shall i not claim any bonus points. ... coz it adds to risk of being deducted by them later ....
and does point reduction mean i will have to file a fresh eoi?
shall i just claim enough to get over 100 and stay calm and watch what happens next ... am in IT n have been so for over 13 yrs ... never thought its going to be so hard a struggle!!

The scores/points mentioned on the NZQA website are very generic. Though you have MCA qualification, it totally depends on the subjects you have studied during that period and are compared to the NZ qualification. Getting IQA done before EOI is a must and hence suggested in my earlier post.
Never mind - with 13 yrs. of experience in IT and getting Score of 8 - should not be an issue if you have not submitted your EOI. Even if you have submitted your EOI and its still not reached to draw stage, you can update the EOI. If your EOI is drawn from the pool, my recommendation, is to reach out INZ on phone and discuss your case with them. They are the best people to guide you in this situation and provide you the answers for the questions you have.

Thanks again mate! finally found my answer on INZ site itself. Clearly states in questions answer "Qualifications required for occupations in the shortages list". It says - "A higher qualification does not automatically meet the qualification requirement under LTSSL." and goes on in explaining why ... so I will not apply for LTSSL points now ...
