    Default QAR vs IQA

    Dear Everyone,

May I know the difference between QAR and IQA ?
During the ITA stage I have sent my QAR and my qualification was recognized and awarded 50 points.
However, as per my CO in order to claim bonus for my work experience in LTSSL I need to apply for IQA to compare my degree (major - BSc in Electronics and Communication Engineering) to LTSSL's occupation under 'ICT Professionals' with the option below:

Bachelor degree (Level 7) specialising in Information Technology (Computer Science, Information Systems or other Information Technology) OR Bachelor degree (Level 7) specialising in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Technology AND three years of relevant work experience.

    Regards,
    Jeremy

I presume you mean PAR not QAR _
If this so, a PAR is a preliminary assessment that can be done online without submission of documents, while an IQA (international qualifications assessment), is a much more thorough assessment in which orginal certificates, transcripts, proof of identity & work experience, etc is assessed by NZQA.

    Dear Winnie,
In 2005 I have submitted all my original documents (Degree certificates, transcripts, ect.) to NZQA for assessment. And provided me a result stating Qualification Assessment Result.

    Dear JandM,
Is QAR still acceptable ? or I need to follow my CO to get IQA in order to claim a bonus on my experience ?

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards,
    Jeremy

(For information, QARs were renamed IQAs as from June, 2008.)

It has often been found that COs do not accept NZQA assessments carried out some time before. I imagine that NZQA always compares qualifications with courses that are running in New Zealand at the time, so it's reasonable that INZ want to make sure that what was felt appropriate x years ago is still valid now. So as your CO has this requirement, yes, you have to do as he says if you want the points.
