Bringing Wetsuits, Fishing and Kite Surfing Gear
Hi - I'm in the process of putting together my household inventory worksheet and obtaining moving quotes.
Has anyone had any issues bringing over their wetsuits/snorkel sets, fishing gear, any other water-related gear? By container or with them on the airplane?

Our semi-drys, boots, fins, etc didn't need any special treatment. But talk to your shipping company as they should be able to explain what treatment (if any) your items may need.

We brought many fishing rods and all the related fishing gears - reels, hooks, weights, cooler box etc. - via sea shipment with the post office. Other than the rods requiring a long somewhat hard case (we used fabric but the hard fixed shape type), there wasn't any problem. Do not have wetsuits/diving stuff though.
For all these things you bring, be sure you clean them well first. I.e., not to have any dirt or residues from past use.

I'm sanitizing anything that was used outdoor by cleaning and soaking in bleach.

I can't believe that bleach would do a wetsuit any good at all. The stuff just needs to be visually clean. Carefully check the folds and seams for traces of plant, animal and soil. The MAF check is just a visual check, if it looks clean, it is!

Thanks for the tip rogercruse. I've got a couple of appointments set for the next week for shippers to come to my house to give us an estimate. I'll be sure to ask them.
