Follow your gut. While it's OK to mention there's another offer pending, don't burn your bridges. Congrats!

I have finally had my offer. In fact I've had two within a couple of hours of each other.
I may be crazy but I've accepted the lower paid one! It is still a large pay rise compared to my job in the UK, and they've agreed in light of the other offer to revise the pay offer up.
I realised when I had both offers that the lower paid one, at DIA, was the one I really wanted. It is basically my dream job. When I saw the amount of money MoH were offering my I had a horrid sinking feeling that I would feel obliged to take it because it is so much more ($10,000 more). I have been working in health policy for a long time and my current job in the UK was supposed to be my stepping stone out of health and back into what I want to do - community development. So the thought of staying in health just for the money really killed my excitement about moving. The amount of money also slightly scared me tbh, it would be a £12,000 pay rise, which seems odd and I'd be worried about the level being a bit too much of a reach - something that is stretching but also comfortable feels better when we will have so much else going on as well. I also really like the manager at DIA and want to work for her. All that gut reaction really cemented for me which one I wanted and my amazing husband told me to take whichever one I wanted to do most, so I've accepted DIA.
I was also very impressed with my gumption in asking for more money. They offered me just over halfway up the appointment scale (MoH offered me the top of their appointment scale), and I spoke to my new manager and explained I really wanted the job but I had this other offer from Health that was a lot more. I was honest and said that I didn't think the pay difference would stop me accepting the job but would they be able to look at it again, because although their offer was higher than I had said my salary expectations were, those expectations had changed over time! She said that she would get HR to increase the offer but that she couldn't match the MoH offer - I knew this was the case because the top of their appointment scale is lower than the top of MoH's and I don't think they'll offer me the top. But just the feeling that I've got a bit more money out of them assuages my sense of guilt about taking the lower paid job.
I feel like this huge weight that I didn't even know was there has been lifted! Very happy indeed and it makes the move very real!
