Just after some thoughts really.
Ive started working for a frozen food delivery company, im a class 4 truck driver with a NZ licence, ive done the job in the UK before and they were very happy and very keen to employ me. They have asked me what my plans for the future are as they would like to keep me on full time but with the WHV restrictions obviously this could be difficult.
My direct boss has said he cannot find good staff that know the job and are hard workers such as myself and people that understand how temperature controlled products are supposed to be kept.
He says if i apply for a work visa he and the company will support my application and make statements to say that they wish to keep me on and are struggling finding hard workers (as they have mostly moved to the tipper work for building rubble in and out of the city)
The job is good, it pays well and the hours arnt bad and yeah i would like to stay on and do the job full time if im allowed.
So how would I go about this? Im on a 23 mth WHV from the UK, been in NZ for approx 3 months now. Do i leave the process a while, as they may see it that ive come on WHV to change to a direct working visa, if thats at all possible?
Or do i leave it a little bit longer into my stay before applying?
I want to be honest and upfront with everyone at Visa house and dont want to leave it to the last minute to extend a visa or change a visa.
The company is also on the accredited employers list, so would they look at application see if was from an accredited employer and would look better in the eyes of the visa people? (I know it probably doesnt work like that, but in my head it kinda does)
Would be interested to know peoples thoughts, ideas and suggestions.
Cheers
